MCC Portland invites all people to prayer sessions, singing, sermons, and worship services. We are a Christian congregation that affirms those who seek God, and encourage spiritual growth through worship, prayer, learning, and service.
We are a congregation that values love, kindness, diversity, joy, service, and liberation. We have many differing theological beliefs, but our common commitment to love, justice, and spiritual living connects all of us. We have grown up with very different religious backgrounds, or no religious background at all, and we invite all to seek and experience the Divine that is within all of us and beyond us. Our goal is to develop a spirituality that inspires hope, renews life, and kindles passionate joy while serving and strengthening those in need. We are committed to being a vital, relevant, and public voice for the absolute inclusion of all people, with special outreach to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in their rights and benefits in society as well as the church. We combine our faith with action to support and uphold other organizations that seek justice for all.
The community of MCC Portland allows us to experience spiritual life together. In worship, we include all the usual elements, but in our own unique way. We pray, sing, recount the stories of our faith, and share stories of our own lives. We are inclusive in worship in affirming all genders, gender identities, races, sexual orientations, and religious backgrounds in our church experience. As we come from a variety of Christian and non-Christian traditions, we can find the value in many different faiths and create a blended worship experience that honors many different forms of worship. We believe MCC will be unlike any other worship experience you have had, and we invite you to join us as we grow together, contribute to each other's spiritual journeys, and offer our time and talents to serve our community!
